Tribute to Life!

FINALLY IT’S OVAHHH!!!!!!! All them wedding dinners are done. Finito! Sunday was the final dinner we had. This was for Cat’s family and friends and it was in Alor Star, Kedah. That’s a good 5 hours drive up north. Dad as usual left the driving to me. Note to Dad, I will not be responsible for any speeding tickets mkayyyy. That’s what you get for letting your son, who had less than 2 hours of sleep drive. Thankfully I managed to slip a cuppa coffee along the Tapah highway rest. Else it would have been a preeeeetty interesting drive.

Anywho, the dinner turned out to be a big fanfare for the Alor Star folks. Seems like everyone turned up for our wedding dinner. That and the other 12 other wedding dinners that night. Someone stole my spotlight *hmpphhh* The pictures should be up soon at the previous link I posted. The only interesting thing to note during my entire Kedah visit was the rain. It rained cats and dogs and frogs and cows man! Odd for such a dry state. Oh well, at least it kept the temperatures low. And the food. Oh my fricckin cows! If I drew KL pay and lived in Alor Star, I would be a pretty big pig. No offense to the creatures. The BBQ chicken wings there are the shiznits! Not the Kate Moss thin kind, but good old Buffalo wings size. They also cost RM1.50 per pop. That’s about a buck cheaper than KL and much bigger as well. WOOTILICIOUS! Alright. Enough of pimping the dinner.

Now to my main topic. It’s 30 May 07 now. So………..

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO MY SISTAHS!!!!!

Fel, my flesh and blood sis and Mhay, my adopted sis! Fel’s was on 29 May 07, but who cares. I’ve already taken her out for a nice birthday breakfast and have pledged to sell my soul for her EXPENSIVE PRESENT. Am already feeling the draft in my empty pockets. Even my bank account echoes with pin drop silence.

(T_T)

*Sob Sob*

If you wanna read more about the person, who made me broke, head on over to her blog at: http://fel-seude.blogspot.com/. Oit! You owe me advertising fee for pimping your blog!!! And how could I forget Mhay!!! Mhayness! Though our meeting be short, but I will always cherish those memories during AC 2005! Waaaazzzzzuuuuupppppp. HAHAHA. I have to say maraming salamat to you for all the Tagalog lessons. Did I mention she is addicted to our teh tarik??!! This woman actually begs people to buy the pre-mix ones from Malaysia if they visit her in the Philippines.

(-__-)”

I should form a teh tarik smuggling gang, operating in South East Asia

Mhay is on my blog list, but in case you’ve blinked, here it is: http://adreamcatcher.multiply.com/. Don’t forget to check out this woman’s adventures! She has passion for life. More than I can say about some people I know out there. You go gal!!!

Last but not least. All those months of constant visits to Shan’s blog has paid off. He is very much alive and kicking! Luckily I haven’t deleted him off my blog list, as I’ve always hoped he would be back. So I’m also pimping his blog this time around. Welcome back Shan! Hope you stay on yeah. Shan’s blog has been updated pretty frequently and is at http://djyakuza.blogspot.com/.

There, my little tribute to life and friends. So semangat now. Makes me wanna sing Elton John’s, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, of the Lion King’s infamy.

A stroll down memory lane - Nawooz camera shy?

Who else faces the same problem as me? Frankly speaking, I don’t enjoy cam-whoring. Usually I only take photos when persuaded. Never voluntarily. I don’t fear the camera thinking it will steal my soul and forever lock it up in the photo. I just see the point of it really. Unless you want a snapshot for memory keepsake.

However, I do love browsing through pictures. You get this funny feeling, which I can’t quite put my thumb on it. I guess that is why some people really love the school yearbooks for that very reason. I think I still have mine stored somewhere. It really captures the years, so to speak. A snapshot in time. One picture, but a thousand stories behind it. Like why Jon actually posed with a yellow waterbottle stuck up his butt. Or why Sani is on his knees with cream on his face. Or why Shum likes posing topless for the camera.

I have a couple of Gigs stored safely on my hard drive. Memories to keep for life. I recently browsed through the album again and caught myself smiling at my youth. Not that I’m old or anything, but those were the best years of my life. Carefree and crazy. Also stumbled upon some firework videos involving Shum, Hero and I. Me being the camera/videoman cum commentator. I laughed so hard remembering the crazy things we did that night. Hero is a real terror when it comes to arson. Having said that, I too, have my own share with arson. Burnt a whole hill behind my old house, I did. Got the fire so big that the fire department sent the trucks down. Got a nice and good hiding from dad that night. There is something wondrous about fire. So dangerous yet exciting. Must be the genes inherited from the cavemen times.

So as camera shy I am/was, I’m pretty glad to have some photos to keep me company till I’m old. Something to show to the kids and hopefully grandkids. Of how a terror dad/grandpa was when he was younger…with full hair…and a full set of teeth…without the wrinkles and four eyes instead of 6 or 8. Dayum….I’m feeling all nostalgic again. Must be the darn watermelons this evening. Gonna go back and scold the fruit seller.

The trains go Choo! Choo!

Okiedoke. This is a catch up post. Haven’t been very dedicated to posting off late. Internet line at home has been a total *toot* and I usually post during the odd hours while working. Shhh! Don’t let my boss know ^__^||

I’ve got like a brain-full of stuff and I need to get them down in coherent writing, but I’ll settle with getting them down in writing instead. First and foremost, poor Kymkym bludgeoned her month old Myvi when she came to my office for a lunch date. It’s the 2nd time her car has met with an accident at the same vicinity!!! Must be the feng shui at the place. Either that or she needs a serious dose of mandi bunga (bathing with flower water). Anyway, she got quoted RM500 to fix a fender bender and thankfully not much body damage involved. So ke lian and felt so bad for her. On the bright side, she bought empat ekor (4D lottery) after that. Hopefully all that bad luck will turn soon.

Talk about bad luck, poor http://www.kukujiao.com/ kena hacked by someone, who couldn’t use proper grammar. Ironic. Thankfully Earl came online for a shortwhile. He is letting his host fix it. So, stay tuned for any improvements to his blog. It’s a pity people have to resort to these tactics just to get attention. Go blog lar if you want attention. Gah!!!

Also last week, I had a friendly chat with an old colleague. She had some really hard questions for me. Being my usual self, I answered as best as I could. I guess I haven’t lost touch. People still approach me for advice or just lending a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on(tm). Sometimes in life, that is all you need. Someone to notice and share. Reminded me of what Susan Sarandon said in the movie, “Shall We Dance”.

quote: “All these promises that we make and we break…why is it that you think people get married? Because we need a witness to our lives. There’s a billion people on the planet, I mean what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you’re promising to care about everything…the good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things…all of it, all the time, every day. You’re saying… Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go unwitnessed, because I will be your witness.” unquote.

Beautiful isn’t it? I purposely bolded the best bit. Susan (or the script writer) hit the nail on the spot, so to speak.

Also, not forgetting something very the importante today.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, MOM!!!!!!

Took my mom out for big makan session last night. Mom doesn’t like us splurging on gifts for her, but she likes food. Made the reservation and ordered 2 of their signature dishes, I knew Mom likes. Picked sis up from work and then headed to Secret Recipe for their cake-o selection. Oishii Desu. We had a 6 course dinner with 3 cake slices. The meal did not leave a huge hole in my pocket. I was expecting it to be well over a hundred bucks, but the total came up to RM70++. WTFish man. Like that I can take my parents out for makan more often. Seeing how my dad menganggur (jobless) and all now. Teeheehee. Maybe I should drop hints for him to sell his fishes. Ladida. I think he would sell me first before he got to that. He.Loves.His.Fishies.Fullstop. That would explain me being a kuli (hard labourer) over the past weekend transporting an aquarium and stand, in a Toyota Unser from Kelana Jaya to Rawang.

I forgot I had muscles in my arms until it ached the following morning. The joys of lactic acid. Tiger Balm patches work wonders for muscle aches, but nothing beats good ol’ Metholatum Deep Heat Rub ointment or spray. Syiok, Stim, Supahhhhhh. Feels like a hundred soldier ants marching on your skin after application. Sends a shiver down my spin now thinking of it. Ok, enough blogging. Need to get back to actual work. Surfing other people’s blogs before checking my e-mails. Fun hor! On a Sunday morning samore!!!!! (-____-#)

Touch Heart??!!! Touch my ASS!

Dim Sum, literally translated to English means “touch heart”. It’s actually an assortment of dumplings, tasty bites and what-not for that perfect Chinese breakfast on a rainy morning. So my wife and I got up early to head over to our usual dim sum place in SS2, PJ. I can’t recall the shop’s name, but it’s before that “hanging big duck signboard”. This place serves decent dim sum, but the service is lousy. We’ve been there a couple of times and always had to “BEG” for our food. The waiters just love skipping our table and usually we get lousy selections in the end.

Today was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. We called one of the waiters for the fried stuff food tray. The effing idiot past our table as usual when I told him we wanted to make our selection. Mr. Idiot went to the NEXT table instead and asked them if they were the ones, who called. Again I told him we wanted to make our selection since the next table did not order. He effing ignored us and went to the other tables. Now if there is one thing everyone should know, a hungry man is an angry man. That was an understatement to my boiling rage. I know their service was bad, but this just took the icing of the cake. Fck that. I’m not gonna be dissed while having breakfast. It’s one of my biggest pantangs!!! I told my wife that we were leaving and to call for the bill.

We drove about 18 shops down to the other dim sum shop down the stretch. We were greeted by smiling ladies. They were from China, based on the Mandarin accent. We got our food served to us the minute we sat down. Drink orders were promptly delivered. The lady was thoughtful enough to keep my prawn chee cheong fun steaming hot for take away later. The place was a bit pricier than the initial shop, but their service was worlds apart. I have no problems paying for my food, but I don’t like having to BEG FOR IT, you effing morons!!!! You have just lost a customer and I will make it a point to put your establishment down.

It really spoilt my morning and here I am fuming whilst typing this. I just can’t stand bad service. Usually I bear with it, but enough is enough. At least I found another shop, which allows me to eat their stuff. Dah lah I’m working till 8.30pm again today. Sobs. On a perfect rainy morning. I should be in bed like everybody else. Can’t get to visit the pasar kutu (flea market) near my wifey’s place too. Looked kinda interesting when I passed by yesterday. Sigh. I feel much much better after letting that off my chest.

Health is Wealth

I’ve posted previously that I’m facing some health issues. Prolonged coughing spasms. I blame it on my work pattern and also the work environment. It’s unnecessarily cold and dry. Several complaints have been made, but the situation has not improved. The air-conditioning is either too cold or too warm.

I’ve had about one day’s rest in between last week and this week’s shift. Last night, I tossed and turned at 3 AM in the morning causing my wife to awake. Fell asleep due to sheer exhaustion and now I’m a zombie at work. I’m going to have to endure another 2 weeks of 4 day 12 hour shifts before it resumes to the normal pattern. Don’t think I can keep this up for long. Now I know why people, who are married tend to leave shift jobs. It’s not only a test to the relationship, but to a person’s physical and mental health.

My sincere advice to any seeking for a job out there, bite off what you can chew. If you can’t chew it anymore, then seek for other bites ;) I’m gonna endure this a lil’ while longer for the sake of financial commitments. It’s so hard when you’ve got housing and car loans. Sigh. Our life here on earth. Die for the money we make, and make money to die. *Groans*

Something about Shum

He comes as he pleaseath and leaves as he leaveth. WTFish dude! You don’t hear from Shum in a while and all of a sudden, he is back in Malaysia and trying to organize a dim sum reunion with his friends. AT 12:00 MIDNIGHT!!!! Words escape me on the total randomness of this, man.

Dude, if you’re coming back next time. Holler. What the hell you suddenly appeared and then expect people to go on your food adventures mehhhh??!! Having said that. It’s only and totally Shum. No doubt about it. Thankfully I’m immune to his odd and whimsical nature.

How many Shum’s do you know? I know one and only one. Nothing more. Nothing less. Dude, welcome back to Malaysia. I’ve said this before. Malaysia > Singapore. And so is the food!!! Drool much? Oh shoot! Just remembered I’m supposed to scout for Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream for him in Malaysia. It’s the only thing, which Singapore freely has that Malaysia doesn’t. -___-”

EDIT: this is so like Shum, ajak me go makan2 at 12 midnight. 3 am he comes online MSN and then starts talking crap with me. apa lagi. shoot him kau2 lar. then he apologized for giving me the wrong message. he wanted to have the dim sum session after my work finishes at 8.30 am in the morning. wadafak to the max man. best part, he ffk-ed before he went to do god-knows-what. said he was crashing at 5 am and we should do this some other time. now someone plz tell me why i aren’t surprised??!!! so typical. the only word to describe these types of events…shum-ism. RAWRRRRRRR. dunno what to say. shum, if you’re reading this. cluck u. waited 3 hours ok. bangau! mangan! pakia!
