Bye-bye Birdie (T_T)
Blog.com is being such a n00b today. I just lost my entire post, which took me about 30 mins to type. Now, I’ll have to re-type it all over again. Blehks! On with da post…
My parents used to take us for picnics during the weekends. We’d usually end up at some waterfall nearby. One of our common haunts was, Templer’s Park. No point going there now, it’s over-commercialized and over-exploited. Plus, it’s no fun swimming, when you keep thinking about someone pissing or worst still, pooping upstream. The social mentality has just not changed. ~__~ Butttttt, this is not a post about piss and poop.
On one particular outing, my dad caught a lil birdie. It was a common Mynah bird. Nothing too special, except this bird was abused previously. Someone had tied a piece of rafia string around it’s legs and it was wounded due to this. Cruel!!!!! So we took the fella back home to tend to it’s injuries. It took a couple of weeks, but it’s leg mended and we decided to set it free. The bird flew away, but THEN decided to come back. (o.0) So totally unexpected result.
It didn’t have a name until one fateful day when it started talking, or rather mimicking human speech. It’s first word was, “Mama” and hence we named it Mama. Mama could imitate other bird calls or even cry like the baby next door. Awwwsummm bird! The only UN-fun part was when we had to feed it. Mama liked crickets, which could bite with those ugly jaws. *shudders* Mama also had a bad habit of pecking our fingers when grabbing the cricket.
Unfortunately, Mama died one day and the whole family grieved. I guess my Mom took it the hardest. Mom had a wet kitchen out back and Mama used to keep Mom company during her cooking stints. This would explain why my Mom is so reluctant to get pets. Her resolve is further strengthened when our doggie, Floppie, died not too long ago. She now dotes over our ancient cat named Amber, who is like a super-duper grandma among cats. She is close to 70-80 years old, if compared to human years. Amber used to be a crazy cat, but is a sweet old lady now.
Anyways, I recalled Mama, the Mynah bird when I witnessed a bizzare incident this morning. I had to work this Sunday morning and my wifey wanted to go back to her rented room in PJ. We took the Damansara NKVE/PLUS highway exit due to this. I was minding my own business and driving behind this black Proton Perdana, who was also using the SmartTag lane. All off a sudden, I noticed this black object falling from the sky and it actually hit the Perdana’s roof. What the TOOTiness right. The Perdana didn’t even stop after the “hit-and-run”. The impact should have created an audible “bang” on the roof, but nope. The Perdana went on it’s merry way.
I found out later, that the victim was a common Mynah bird. The same breed as Mama. Poor thing. I figured that it was trying to perch atop the powerlines above the highway and got electrocuted. Either dead by roasting or a broken neck by the collision with the car roof. Freaaaaakyyyy I tell ya. RIP poor birdie. Say “Hi” to Mama if you’re in Mynah heaven for us.
To further demonstrate what happened at the scene, I, Nawooz, have exhausted my creative juices with this n00bish MS Paint sketch. It depicts the Wadafak(tm) scene I encountered this morning. Behold my 1337 hax0rz MS Paint skeelz. Mwahahahahaha. ^__^
