a slice of heaven

no i’m not dead…yet. as i sit here staring at my monitor, feeling the cold draft from the central air-conditiong unit. i am slowly drifting away in becalmed seas. the setting: a boat floating in the endless ocean. water as far as the horizons. the deafening silence is occasionally interrupted rudely by the waves lapping against the boatsides. a few flying fishes glide out of the water into the air, escaping the barracudas chasing it. the sails hang limp and lifeless. soon there will be a breeze to fill those sails and once again they will flap wildly in the strong Pacific wind.

i can almost imagine how columbus must have felt. this almost feels like it came off a movie set. i’m thinking Tom Hanks in Castaway. now, back to the story. i’m headed to the most isolated cluster of islands in the entire world. nothing but white sands squirting between my toes. turquoise waters, lush green palm fronds swaying in the salty ocean breeze. a nice glass of Hard Rock cafe’s Cecil Iced Orange Clove Tea. i am so there now.

what would i need for survival. a partner to share it all would be nice. the sea would provide me with the freshest catch each day. water would come from a hill-fed spring or river. none of that polluted crap in the city and it’s outskirts. a guitar and a beach hut. life ala Robinson Crusoe.

i am so tempted to drop everything and chase these dreams, right about now. somebody wake me up to reality. here i am back at my freezing cubicle staring at the monitor all along. live plays games on you, all the time.
