Chapter 23: a pleasant surprise
my humblest apologies for not blogging these couple of days. new year’s eve was spent at home with a bunch of my dad’s friends and also some neighbours. t’was a BBQ dinner with much food indeed! as usual, i was the designated firestarter. the feeling of a job well done is very satisfying. thank god i’ve got plenty of training since young. hmm…wonder if my ex-neighbours still remember the small, fat kid that burnt the hill at the back of their homes. Ha-ha. i was quite the young arsonist, mind you, and still am. must be some morbid fascination with fires from a past life. anyway, i enjoyed the meal and company, although many of them were not of my age. then, the unexpected happened. it happened one of the family friend’s kids invited 2 other youths to join the celebration. hey, the more the merrier right? so they arrived and being the host, i buzzed about to make them comfortable and broke the ice. i found out that Reihan and his cousin were from Malaysia but have migrated to Australia. He was living and studying in Sydney while she was currently in Brisbane at QUT. cut to the chase, it was when she was leaving when i formally introduced her to my dad. and to my surprise, her dad and my dad went back a long way. like wow! small world.
saturday was clean up day after the festivities. yesterday, i was on-call as a paintball marshall at TAG Paintball. there was only one booking by Team Ronin and they were due at 3pm for trainings. this time i was lucky. i only got shot once and it was my shoe. the previous experience, i was shot over 6 times and it was not gooooodd!!! i felt those guys were doing it on purpose. Ha-ha. anyway, i enjoy the sport a lot and don’t mind the ‘dirty’ job, which came along with being a marshall.
today, i am back at work with no apparent changes in routine. i just hope it will stay un-eventful and maybe a few nice surprises would be nice, so long as the negative ones stay away. anyway, i got news from Ms. Dory i will have to backup my colleague once more as he is going back to his hometown for the Chinese New Year holidays. yay! another week filled with anger and frustration. perfect way to kick-off the year and Chinese New Year as well. pray for me and wish me luck people. i may live through this…yet.
emo: sick in the stomach and the head. okay so it doesn’t count as an emo but this is how i feel now.
